Silent disco at a wedding sounds like a gimmick until you see how it actually runs. Every guest wearing headphones, three music channels playing simultaneously, your grandmother dancing to Sinatra in the same room as the groomsmen losing their minds to hip-hop. Nobody’s mad about the playlist because nobody’s sharing one.
NOISE ORDINANCES
Outdoor venues in Corrales, the East Mountains, properties near residential neighborhoods in Santa Fe — many of the most beautiful venues in New Mexico have hard decibel limits or curfews. A traditional DJ hits those limits by 9 PM.
THE PLAYLIST COMPROMISE
One DJ making 200 compromises per hour pleases no one completely. Your cousin wants Latin music, the parents want classic rock, the dance floor wants hip-hop. The DJ lands somewhere in the middle and nobody’s fully satisfied.
Silent disco removes the noise constraint entirely and eliminates the playlist compromise with three simultaneous channels. We’ve executed this across weddings in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Corrales, the East Mountains, and Rio Rancho since 2017.
6-8 WEEKS BEFORE
• Book your headphone count (start at 75% of guest count)
• Confirm venue power access and floor plan
• Decide on channel content — DJ, playlists, or hybrid
2-4 WEEKS BEFORE
• Finalize playlist or DJ coordination
• Confirm delivery time with your venue coordinator
• Signal range test if venue has thick adobe walls or unusual architecture
DAY OF
• Our crew arrives during the setup window, handles all installation and testing
• We walk catering and bar staff through directing guests to headphones
• We stay on-site for the full reception duration
The standard formula: 75 percent of your guest count as your base, rounded up to the nearest 25. For a 150-person wedding, that’s 115 headphones. For 200 guests, plan for 150.

DON’T UNDERCOUNT
Events that underestimate headphone count hit a visible problem: guests who want to participate get turned away. That moment undermines the energy of the reception. The cost differential between 100 and 125 headphones is minor relative to what happens if you run short.
STAGED DISTRIBUTION
If your reception has a 2-hour seated dinner before dancing starts, you can stage headphone distribution to coincide with dancing rather than handing them out all night. This allows a slightly lower headphone count if budget is a concern.
CHANNEL 1
Your curated wedding playlist. The songs you picked for this night, in the order you want them. First dance, special moments, songs that mean something to your specific story. This channel serves your closest family and the people there for the emotional connection to your music.
CHANNEL 2
A DJ set or high-energy playlist built for dancing. Pop, hip-hop, Top 40 depending on your crowd profile. Keeping these on a separate channel means the dance floor energy doesn’t compete with the meaningful moments on Channel 1.
CHANNEL 3
Classic rock for the parents. Latin music if your families have that connection. 80s and 90s throwbacks. A live acoustic set transmitted wirelessly. Done right, this channel becomes the surprise hit of the night — the thing people didn’t know they needed.
EAST MOUNTAINS / CORRALES / WINE COUNTRY
Noise ordinances in these areas typically set hard limits at 65 to 75 decibels after 10 PM. A traditional DJ setup at a medium wedding hits those limits during normal operation. Silent disco eliminates the problem entirely.
LA FONDA / LORETTO / BISHOP’S LODGE
High ceilings, irregular room shapes, and historic preservation requirements all complicate traditional speaker placement. Silent disco bypasses these issues: transmitters broadcast to headphones regardless of room acoustics.
COCKTAIL + RECEPTION IN SEPARATE SPACES
You can broadcast different channels in different rooms without running separate speaker rigs. Guests carry their headphones through both spaces and switch channels based on where they are.
WHAT DOESN’T WORK WELL
Ceremony amplification is not what silent disco is for. The headphone experience is interactive and social — guests switch channels, take headphones off to talk, put them back on. That dynamic is exactly what you don’t want during vows or a ceremony reading. Use traditional PA for the ceremony and bring in the silent disco for the reception.
STANDARD PACKAGE
$1,500
• Up to 100 headphones
• 3 simultaneous channels
• Delivery and setup included
• On-site support full reception duration
PREMIUM WITH DJ
$2,500+
• 100+ headphones
• 3 channels with live DJ managing in real time
• White-glove service
• Dedicated event coordinator
Compared to a traditional DJ-plus-speakers setup in Albuquerque, which runs $1,200 to $2,000 for mid-tier providers, the price difference is modest relative to what you get: noise compliance, three simultaneous music experiences, and entertainment guests talk about long after the wedding.

ONE PRACTICAL NOTE
Tell guests about the silent disco setup in advance — in the invitation or on your wedding website. Guests who know it’s coming arrive curious. Guests who encounter it unexpectedly sometimes hesitate. Prime the crowd and participation runs higher from the first song.
Tell us your venue, guest count, and reception length. We’ll put together a custom package and quote within 2 hours. Serving Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Corrales, the East Mountains, and all of New Mexico.
